DOJ Still Plans Online Gambling Wire Act Enforcement
The US Department of Justice lost their court case against the state of New Hampshire over their interpretation of the Wire Act. notwithstanding, they are still moving forrad with plans to enforce that interpretation (01:02). Meanwhile, New Hampshire has passed a sports betting bill (02:15) which contains some interesting linguistic communication that could disrupt enforcement of the Wire Act 50-50 farther (04:53). A memo from the US Deputy Attorney full general has informed law enforcement staff working under the Department of Justice (DoJ) that there will be no attempt to enforce the revised interpretation of the Wire Act until 2020.
The alphabetic character, from new Deputy Attorney full general Jeffrey Rosen, extends the forbearance period for the revised opinion to December 31, 2019, or 60 days after the final judgement inward New Hampshire’s legal challenge against the new opinion, whichever is later.
The DoJ originally stated that it would enforce the law, based on the stance that the Wire Act applies to all forms of gambling, 90 days after the revised opinion was published inward January, from April 15. inward March this was pushed back to June 14.
