Hey guys! Greece has taken the first off real steps to legalize online gambling and has opened the application process for licenses!
There will be two types — for sports betting and online gambling, for 3 and 2 million euros respectively.
And hear, I’d love to congratulate Greek operators with finally getting their moment inwards the sun…
but to be honest, I’m not 50-50 sure any of them take hold applied for a license quite yet!
Because there’s a bit of a nuance… quite a bit of a nuance, actually.
The new gaming revenue tax rate is set to 35%!!!!! For comparison’s sake, it’s usually 10 to 20% for the rest of the world — 18% for Sweden, for illustration
And guess what? That’s not all! The gambling age is 21, 50-50 though right now the Greek betting monopolist takes bets from anyone over 18!
Plus, the max bet amount is limited to 2 euros, wins are capped at 5 000 euros, and jackpots can’t be over 50 000 euros.
Hey, why is no one interested? Sir? Sir? Come inwards for a unloosen imbibe at to the lowest degree! Please!!!!
Anyway, the International Betting Integrity Association has already called these regulations economically unfeasible, and I hope the Greek regime realizes it soon too.
